Houdini (look hard youll see him)in the backyard waiting for me, ,.. this is where i sit and play with my dogs beside the goldfish pond This is my favorite place on earth,,My dogs love to run around the enjoy freedom, fresh air and fun, I love to watch ,its like heaven on earth, . They love sleeping on the back deck in the sun or laying on the warm stones around the pond while they enjoy the waterfall ,or chasing eachother in happy playful games of tag, its soo wonderful to watch, . theres no where ide rather be than sitting there with a group of chihuahuas standing against my legs looking for a loving pat on the head, or a treat .
Scenes from our yard < We dont believe in caging these wonderful animals (The only exception to this is when our moms are nursing the pups, for the protection and well being of the babies we have begun to cage the moms while nursing with two or three excercise periods a day),,
Our family enjoys making them happy, My dogs have the freedom to run and play, They have a wonderful space , enjoy playing running chasing eating watching the fish ,and two enjoy swimming in the pond, They are Happy and healthy, We do not let people in with them ,So i wanted to show some shots of how they live, They also have three very large rooms , with large dog beds , They are not kenneled or caged , this is very important to me, I like my dogs to be happy and healthy !
On the back deck they sun them selves and play in the back they visit the horses they all seem to be good friends Notice LExi , having fun, playing and being the center of things , She is the red sable in the center,
Lexi playing... Houdini stands gaurd.. Doesnt like the ladies argueing
Happy now lives with my niece and nephew
We placed lexi with a sweet family that lives down the road from us, and where se wil have all the attention, and we can still see her
Sterlin overlooks her fish while bubbles looks on
On the back end of the pond near the horses the dogs look forward to a treat , There is no better feeling than walking with a liitle crowd of happy dogs circling your feet
bubbles red and the little holloween boy have some fun on the back deck
A GLIMPSE INTO OUR FORBIDDEN NURSERY ............
As you may know we dont ever let the public into our nursery , We do this to protect our pups fom people who Go looking elsewhere before coming here, who may spread viruses to our pups, Such as parvo,
I understand that people may think a breeder who doesnt let you in is hiding something, which may be true in some cases, We however, do everything for our pups the best way possible, We are inspected by the Dept of Agriculture and passed with a 100%perfect score, (details of which ,can be seen at the time of purchase)We do not skimp on anything ,everything with our pups Is kept as clean as possible and they are fed only the best ,the mothers are kept in an almost sterile condition while they nurse the babies, for the first few weeks . We dont allow the public inside because we know by experience that that is the best way to protect both our pups and our clients, we have never sold one who went home and died ever. This is because we dont do what people think is best , We do what we know is best for our pups .
Most of my pups are born in the very room they go home from , The "garage " family type room of my house, It is not part of our main house, (we have a huge house,,)This is where we keep our pregnant girls who are due within about three weeks, She is watched over by me and sleeps with me, When we know the time is near, She will be given a basket , a laundry basket full of towels and when she whelps I am here with her This is where i spend most of my time, and keep close eye over my pregnant moms, you most likely will meet one when you come, This is where I sit when they are born , most right in my lap in a basket, Usually Mike asists me with clamps thread, iodine, towels and hot water bottles if needed, (Matt doesnt like the birth process much , but he helps me with all other aspects of this )MAtt finds birth to be yucky,,, sometimes it is but most times its fascinating, everybirth for me, is exciting many times i can remember a pup or something about it when it was born , like the way i immedialty assess it in my mind, for health , quality size color and cuteness, they are all cute in their own way, and all very special ,
, She stays there for a few days so i can watch carefullly over her and her babies until they are all very stable , and then they are moved to my kennel bank seen below, where moms are let out for excercise and a break from the babies, She is safest this way and it is a great way to moniter the progress and check on both mom and babies several times daily, high priority or pups who are more delicate are placed in the top center cage for careful inspection,or more hands on care,
when moms are let out into the yard or the other dog room, the pups are "eyeballed" as we call it,(checked on and food and water is checked and every pup is looked at several times daily at routine times,) to be sure every one is doing well. Anyone who is lagging is kept with me in a basket until it catches up again, This is the only time any of my dogs are ever caged , but it is the safest and best way to moniter the pups who are still on mom,
Next step is the babies are seperated into weaning pens and groups to be socialized, with pups of similar age and size, the pups in the pen are allowed visits from mom and are fed Eukanuba smallbreed , ricotta yogurt and canned pedigree and alpo, like a buffet everyday,
they also receive this while in the bank with mom . prior to full weaning, Some pups are more babyish and will do sometime in the weany pen and then spend the night in the bank with mom so as not to stress them out, right now eves litle girl is one like this, a true mommies girl.
The pups are carefully vaccinated from 21 days of age, to protect them and train the body to be immune especially to parvovirus . we worm them on a regular basis and treat them with metronidazole and sulfer .We do this at 2 week intervals, The pups are then moved to the final pen which is half of a huge room , there they can run full throttle and play and socialize while they await thier new home , if it is nice out they are put out on the back porch to run and get a little sunshine, . We do what is best for our pups , we skimp on nothing, ever,
this is where the moms stay with babies for the nursing period, the room is tropically warm and we keep it very clean and they eat only the best,
We keep wee wee pads under each mom in case th ebabies decide to make and we wash down the inside of each daily,
a squirt of cleaner and some papertowles keeps it very clean and occasionally we take it outsde and steamclean it after hosing it down , it is fiberglass, and stainles steel. wE HAVE THRE LARGE ROOMS WHERE OUR DOGS LIVE iN THEIR WN WING OF THE HOUSE, , tHEY HAVE SOLARIUM FLOORING ,AIRCONDITIONING IN SUMMER AND THE SAME HEAT WE HAVE THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE PLUS ELECTIC OIL RADIATORS IN THE BABY ROOMS FOR EXTRA HEAT AN INSURANCE THERE WILL BE NO CHILLS . tHEY HAVE PLANTS AND LITTLE DOG HOUSES , TREATS , TOYS AND RUN OF OUR YARD,
WHICH IS PEA GRAVELED FOR EASY CLEANING , AND IS A BEAUTIFUL NATURAL WONDERFUL PLACE TO BE, THEY RUN AND PLAY AND CHASE EACHOTHER AS DOGS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO,
THEY ENJOY THE YARD SO MUCH AND I ENJOY WATCHING THEM .
Whats on top ?....: usually we have a box of wee wee pads, some antibiotics.. papertowels , babyfood , cleaners hot water bottles and rawhide sticks which we give to the pups to play with , as well as nutrical, wormers antibacterials antiprotozoans , whelping kit with my scissors forceps, hemastat clamp, special thread to tie off cords , towels and other things we may need for these babies, We also always have emergency supplies on hand such as lactated ringers(fluid for iv or sc rehydration) injectable anitbiotics, etc,. We are always prepared for anything, I like to keep my supplies well stocked,(Ok im obsessive about it,) we always have feeding tubes, baby bottles syringe nipples vitamans , esbilac, ..anything we might need in case of anemergency, whether it be a beesting or a puppy having a bacterial imbalance we are ready for anything, The tiny pups are very delicate when they are young , so everything ,including the temperature of the room , lighting , (f you shut the light at night mom may sleep on the tiny ones, so small amt of lighting is good, we have nightlighting in the nursery, and we give them a bit of fresh air throughout the day, and have proper Airconditioning /and ventilation in the hot weather for them ,
pictured above are Eve,becky , chiquita on top row
middle row: twinkle scarlett and
maggie 2 (the second)named after our beloved girl maggie .
botom is splash , watch for these babies soon, notice the blue tape on scarletts cage , we do this because some of the newborns are so tiny they can fit right between the bars, We have a wonderful group of babies coming up,
the pens below are on the opposite side of the room, A large aviary with some finches given to me by my mom is opposite the kennel bank (pictured above) the moms can watch the birds, we also keep a radio playing low inside the room, after weaning they move to the first pens, we call them the "weanie pens " These pens are small for a reason, the pups feel more secure and cannot go off on their own an get upset or lay down and chill,In this way bedding onone side paper on the other in fact the whole pen is papered, So they are forced to go on it, this creates the habit needed to papertrain , as they grow so does the area they get, and finally when they reach the new home this same idea is carried on (see our care page) until finally they are allowed free roam of your house and wil alwys return to the paper, We advise you not to listen to dog trainers out there who are not as experienced as we are specificaly with this breed and PLEASE do not put them in small boxlike crates, it will not bring the desired result , please use the training method we supply on the care page to have a perfectly trained polite additon to your family .We ask that you watch "the dog whisperer" he is the first person i have seen that has the same way of training and understanding dogs as we do,his name i believe is Cesar Milan, (first time i strongly recomend a trainer)or agree with the pshycology he explains , dont miss the show, it wil help you learn to be a good owner, and read Chihuahuas for dummies .
The pups are moved from right to left as the grow in the pens we have set up within these rooms in order of size, , and then into the second room where they have a huge pen and start the papertraining by sectioning the "bathroom area away from the rest of the pen, it works great and our pups usually are perfectly papertrained when they go home, as long as our methods are followed, Weanie pen one forces the pup to make on the paper, they dont want to make on the bedding they lay on, pen 2 is more area , but pen three is half a huge room or more and they have alot of social interaction, with other pups as well as some of my other dogs, . We have yet a third room for moms on break and young adults who are let out in regular intervals into the backyard to play and relieve them selves,We also keep the pregnant moms in the family room with us for extra care and special attention,
if our family needs togo out(as a group such as out to dinner) every pup is checked prior and after. We "eyeball them " all day llong and usualy there is always someone home to moniter them , recently, i had a minor surgical heart procedure ,I called home as soon as i woke up from anesthesia , .. while my son Mike eyeballed the pups and gave me a report over the phone, i directed him from my cot in the hospital as to what i wanted done , Mike ,.. I would consider an expert, even more than most breeders out there as he has been hands on with the pups since he was an armful himself and has learned every aspect of care , he is my right hand man , he is now 20 and He could easily write a book on chihuahuas and the care , not basic care , but a deep knowledge of all apsects of not just the physical care needed but also the training , rearing , vaccination, nutrition and biological health care in every regard, His interest and help is immeasurable, When my mom was So sick last year before i lost her,if i were in the city at the hospital with her( i went everyday for over 1 year ) and it took with travel and visit over 6 hours a day, Mike would deliver my pups with me on the phone guiding him,
My other son Matt 19 ( these two are my only kids) ,Well he is not into the birth or so much the scientific aspects of this, , but he does much (most of the hard labor involved ) We work hard as a team, Chihuahuas are our only breed, (well we have a 20 year old pekingnese named BOBO update BO died jan 04 06 and a doberman we adopted a few yars back named lulu , she is our gaurd dog,
Your pups are in very good hands, We Do not skimp on anything, our dogs have turkeys( we cook them on holidays). Hey it isnt fair...... they smell it, So they all get a bellyful I enjoy that so much..watching them enjoy it, We will be cooking at least 4 this thanksgivng,, we have two kitchens one in the family room where you come to buy your dog, and the other in the main house, , of coure they dont get the trimmings but dont tell them that,
I can say ,..our lives revolve around these Chihuahuas , its Alot of work ,, but then what could be any better, We meet wonderfu; people and make wonderful lifelong friends in our clients, I am often asked if im sad when they go home and they ansswer to that is simple,, NO im not, i may miss them but we have done our job,, and there is nothing more rewarding then watching these little guys go off toa loving family and hearing reports of their progress . and i would not release them to anyone i didnt trust, the care with , and do,,,, once in a while... have to refuse sale , to unsuitable homes,
I feel lucky to have this job to bring so much happinesss to the pups and families they go to, and take the process very seriously, with my experience (30 years breeding wonderful pet chihuahuas) , I know you will get a wonderful healthy pup who is backed by my knowledge and guarantee, and i try to match the perfect pup with the perfect famly,, So the answer to the question of me being sad when they finally leave is no In fact it is the opposite . It is so rewarding and satisfyng to see them go off (most a bit nervous with new people) but within a day or so i hear back that the pup has relaxed and now feels at home, and the little "seed" we nurtured so carefully has been planted where it will thrive and bring and recieve many many years of love and happiness, to alot of people, How lucky are we to do that, ? I wil continue to breed them as long as my health allows and will always keep in touch with prior clients as i offer my experience and advice in any aspect of care , for the life of your pup. below is a rather large group of pups we usually have less but they start in these small pens and move in stages to larger ones, we have another very very large room we use for play and weaning and my adults have a large seperate room and access to frre run in the yard, We also have a smal quiet room for moms about to give birth

MS Kat reads an interesting artcle while Houdini looks into one of the doghouses, with the adult male for sale on the adult adoption page this is the far corner of the largest play pen it is the deignated "bathroom area, " and is the first step in training the pups as it is sort of seperate from the rest of the playyard,'

On jan 4 06 we lost old Bobo ,he was a one eyed white/creme Pekingnese he was 19 1/2 years old , he was our mascott, King of the chihuahuas.... .they all adored him and sort of fell to his feet, he was blind for the last 10 years and had just one eye, . Although he was a cute baby , he was a grouchy guy with lots of hair, i groomed about 4 lbs each spring from him (maybe an exaggeration not sure but it filled a good sized bag) he was like a grumpy old man, but we loved him anyway, and well miss him although for about the last 10 years everytime I looked at him i thought he was dead he lookd like a white throw rug, Bobo's chihuahua friends were visibly upset when he died. He was a part of our family and well miss him alot. Il always remember him running down the halls of the holiday inn we used to go to when my kids were little, he knew just where the room was, evenafter he went blind, and he was very arthritic, But when he was young . He could stand for 20 minutes with his paws up beggiing.H e said the words "Out " and "ice cream" vanilla was his favorite , and he loved to ride in the car, after he went blind wede take him out for rides so he could stick his nose up and smell the neighborhood as we took him for a ride,
He was a unique soul .well always miss him . We named our new stud after him
This is my miniature horse Poo "kicakapoo" named after a creek in Texas near where she was born,She is a miniature horse we rescued from Texas ,, long story but she was headed for the "auction " with no papers and in the condition she was in when she came shed have ended up on a plate in Europe some where, We adore her, She is only 34 inches at the shoulder, We also acquired a new girl named Spirit who was a World champion Appaloosa , a few years back , Mini as well .As you can see the chihuahuas are free to roam the yard, in one photo you see Eve ,,the dogs and the horse are very good friend,s Spirit fit in well and we love her ,

LULu our crazy Doberman and her friend pheobe the dwarf horse, LUlU is a kooky dog but smart as a whip , She recently alerted us when we had a kitchen fire (caused by someone i wont mention)
LU loves all animals as long as they are ours if they belong to someone else they arent allowed near here, LU loves most everyone, but is a fiercly loyal and protective friend, She can be so very gentle but scary when shes protecting her family. We rescued her a few years back , She is a very important part of the family, She is very large for a female dobie, Smart as can be, She is about 6 years old now i think She is Mikes dog, She is a red Doberman in my opinion the smartest dobies are red
here we see mike onthe front lawn at midnight with pheobe,,, tired as can be,

Hey mike,,,,,,,,,,whats that look,,,,? its like ,,,,,,,,now this is a dog !
you will see the beauty of a chihuahua when its time for training and clean up !
Dana(after my dear old friend Dana the first ) She is coming from Gibsons Mastiffs, She wil be a huge English Mastiff baby We had one who died 10 years ago,She had lived with us for 11 of her twelve years, She belonged to a woman we knew of whos husband was abusive,I would see her everyday tied to a tree on the way to see MAtt and Mike in the hospital ,(they were premature and were in the neonatal icu for 2 months )
One day i heard that the ladys husband had hit DANA with a board ,.. the board had nails in it,and the dog bled alot . He hit her because the old porch she was tied to had a rotted board and dana had tugged and broken down the porch,She was young and full of energy,Upon hearing this I went over and offered the husband A few hundred dollars for her... He took it... and Dana become part of our family , She was very viscious at first,,, but soon learned to trust me, and watched over Matt and MIke like a Nanny , as they played in the yard,
After some emotional rehabilitation she was the sweetest dog, although she weighed about 225 lbs in her prime, I wil add a photo of her soon as i find one , She was ,and always will be a part of me,
And we still miss her, Mike wanted another, (so did i ) So Dana will be joining us as a guard and family dog , She will make a wonderful additon , IF she doesnt step on the chihuahuas ! and im sure she will guard them and watch over us, as Dana #1 did , She is about 6 weeks in this photo 8 weeks with MIke
DAna is cAME TO US ON 9/8/06 and well post new photos of her a comparison with a chihuahua should be a hoot, danas home heres the new photo with MIke on her first day here
SHE is house broken and allready gives her paw and sits and shes showing signs of being protective, We just love her, NEW PHOTOS OF HOW DANA HAS GROWN COMING SOON sHE IS NOW ABOUT 150 POUNDS AND GROWING ,,, AND SHES ONLY 1 YEAR OLD NOW,

progress Rennie has been here a few weeks now ,she fit in wonderfully .She is sweet and loving and gentle i cant imagine how someone could have done such a horrible thing to her, the scarring on her head is so bad and she has No ear on one side, It looks to me like sometype of flammible liquid had ben thrown on her , She has nightmares sometimes when she sleeps worse than any ive ever seen a dog have, We wake her up and speak softly to her ,She has become a very much a big part of our family . We Call her Boo

THE AMAZING
Mr Butterbean is the smallest pup iver bred to date , in fact the smallest ive ever seen and ive been breeding pretty tiny pups for thirty years ive had some small enough for guiness and some ive sold to good clients and friends but this guy he is my smallest
,, maybe a record breaker he weighs just under a lb at 9 months of age, His dad is Bo and Mom is my tiniest longhaired merle , He is just gorgeous and is emilys favorite, Mr Butterbean will be entered into the guines book as soon as he has all his adult teeth in with these tiny ones they take longer,
So most likely in about 6 months ,
he is full of pep and silly as can be, He is not for sale he isnt mine hes Emilys (my monkey) watch for them on you tube,
9 months old almost fullgrown
