Let me introduce myself , My name is Chris Hansen , I live in a great big old Dutch colonial house ,in a very nice neighborhood in Staten island New York . , My family, consisting of my two sons (Michael and Matthew and my husband Larry ) and I ,Love and breed Chihuahuas. (only!)
I have bred these dogs for about 30 years now, I love and cherish the breed, and feel a great connection with my clients, It is wonderful to watch the pups grow and blossom in their new homes,
My sons have been raised with Chihuahuas and every aspect of breeding them , We love and understand the breed and its care fully , We stand behind our pups and we are very proud of the job we do raising them . My husband Larry is an animal lover and has helped me mostly with the physical work involved, He is retiring from NYC sanitation .Matthew and Michael, my definitely NOT identical twins , are a very big part of raising these wonderful pups THere is a page about eac of my sons on the map to us page
Matt helps me greatly and Mike iis my assistant with any medical /biological work we do ie :whelping, medications , vaccinations worming , tube feedings bottle hand rearing, and the care of the ultra tinies who need to be monitored and kept healthy by methods we have learned from a lifetime of experience, . I have always loved dogs,, ide say obsessively, my earliest memories consists of studying dog books, Couldn't learn enough about them , was also as my mother called me "a nurturer ".In fact I grew up across the street from a park and while other children played , I spent my days hand feeding baby birds who had fallen from trees in the neighborhood , My Mom , was very well known for her help with children in the local schools(ie bloodrives , girlscouts ,and running a sports program with a well known manager of a New York team named Joe Torre,(before he was famous) so everyone in the neighborhood knew our family and I was brought baby animals of all kinds to hand raise, There were birds fallen from trees every spring, (ahh those were a favorite). I was known as the bird lady ,, even though I was a small child,
My grandfather George ,built me a three story "building" for my babies out of desk drawers, He worked as a treasurer of a bond company ,and showed me how to care for the little birds and built me this "wonderful " little bird house in which I kept my charges, and I enjoyed and still do , releasing them and raising them and even at times enjoying visits as they come back to me after release sometimes for years, , A few years ago Mike and I raised a blue jay who came back weeks later and landed on my finger, That was such a wonderful feeling, And I raised so many animals by hand , for rescue reasons, and have done some wildlife rehabilitation too many to name,
I am still brought baby birds each spring, and often consulted by petstores on bird care and often given hopeless "misfits " birds who have no chance of survival with most anyone else , , and I care for them .(we do not sell pups to petstores nor do we approve of their sales of pups) mainly because of where they come from ,and the stresss and suffering they and there mothers endure, !
But dogs ,, dogs were always my passion, I love the large breeds like the English mastiff , had one for 12 years her name was Dana she weighed about 220 lbs , and loved her dearly , But nothing to me can top a Chihuahua as a pet , They are to me the best breed, The longest lived , the healthiest (once past 6 months of age) and the most charming intelligent little souls , no less personality than a giant dog, but so much less work and complications, as well as they travel so nicely, and to me , they are like no other breed, Super smart , tiny body with a great big soul,.
I was going to be a veterinarian that had been my dream , unfortunately my circumstances in life didn't allow it, So I studied on my own and learned all I could , and experienced all I could, and then when I was a very young woman , I got my first Chihuahua, her name was Lori, She changed my life, Her first litter of babies had me hooked, I was and still am a Chihuahua breeder , My life's experience and love for dogs and especially this breed has led me to this "job" I consider very important, To raise and provide wonderful pet Chihuahuas for others to enjoy, I am an expert on their care , on their temperament , and knowledge of every aspect of them and happy to share my expertise ,with my clients, for as long as I am able, No question is silly (I take that back there have been a few :) but I enjoy those, and im happy to answer any and all questions my clients ask , I answer my emails several times a day, I am also always available by phone should an emergency ever arise for the life of any of my chi's, for any client who has one of my pups in the event of any type of emergency i would never mind a 3 am call , , Of course all inquiries before purchase, I do prefer by email ,

Chihuahuas are a misunderstood breed, I know mine are, They are loyal , quiet, Not yappy at all, super smart and well behaved, and have the least care needed by any breed, as well as the longest lives,Some have gone over 20 years, and are the easiest dogs to care for, as adults,
